CONFIGURE BSNL EVDO ON SIERRA 598U AND 595U modems

The difference b/n sierra 595u and 598u is 595u requires battery while 598u do not require battery.Performance wise both are mostly same.So it is better to buy 598U than 595U

TOOLS NEEDED

3.Bsnl Evdo prl File-https://www.dropbox.com/s/c98wzvh6dd1bski/a2%20-%20Copy.prl
It is an esn flasher tool for sierra to flash esn of ruim
Firstly you need any zte modem having ruim support to read data of bsnl evdo ruim using DFS ,then save the snapshots of programming tab.Follow these steps carefully
1.Connect your sierra modem to DM port using DFS CDMA tool
2.Send spc 000000
3.Then go to programming tab then go to NAM tab.
4.Press read tab below SID AND NID.Now copy all things carefully except SID and NID to your Nam tab
5.Now open your DFS snapshot of NAM tab then write only MIN A,MIN D,MDN AND PCS will be same that is your mobile number to your NAM tab.Write SID and NID from your snapshot like I have written 14518 and 65535 in my tab.
6.Make all preferred settings as in image below.Home page,origin,roam as V13K
7.Now click write,then click on reset button.
8.Close DFS and Open again then follow steps 1 to 3.
9In NAM tab you can see PRL. Click read writen below prl.
10.Click on load prl then choose the prl file you have downloaded.Check enabled then click write.then again reset
11.Follow step 8.





 12.Now go to Data tab then click on read then IN each field PAP,PPP,HDR,etc use 9181XXXXXX@AAAXX.IN as UID ,9181XXXXXX as password and  same MODE settings as in image below.Check all boxes in data config,active config and evdo scp as on image below.The 9181XXXXXX will be same as you have written in min field.In AAAXX,the XX will be KO,ND,etc depending on your location.To know it see your RUIM snapshot page 
13.Now click on write then reset 
14.Now again follow step 8

15.Now go to mobile IP tab.Then click on read then copy each field as on image below.NAI will be as same that is on Last step.then click write then reset it 

16.Now open your snapshot of General tab,you will see ESN on esn tab which is a hexadecimal code.Now connect your modem open Sierra cdma esn flasher.then flash the ESN on it.
18.Download watcher for sierra 598u or 595u then it will work

    will this work on prithvi ue100?
    if not then how to make sim from the ue100 work on any other 1xEV-DO modems?

      yes I made it work myself, you just need a zte modem just to enter other info and you can use its imei no. in place of ESN and if you want your 9181XXXXXX this no. its on the back side of your sim. A long serial no.is given. all you need to do is use its alst 10 digits as phone no.

    No it will not work with ue100.Sim will work on some zte and Huawei modem but only on 1x mode by changing settings using dfs tool.Among them only few support support evdo mode.

      Sierra modem will be good.Otherwise mts 2766 modem also works fine

    I have both the devices since 1 year.However I am not able to transfer the sim data from prithvi to Sierra.Kindly help me in this regard.I read your blog but still couldn't do it.

    You should have zte modem or Huawei modem with sim port so that you can read the data.Write down data in a paper piece. The main things are esn number,9181XXXXXX,that you should write on paper piece.Evdo prl file and esn flasher download link are available on blog

      It will be hard to find any cdma dongle that work with bsnl evdo sim.Try searching over internet.Otherwise there are some zte modems that may work.

    I tried your method but unsuccessful so I copied the same settings from my Zte AC8700 and that didn't work too so I went to the local Bsnl office but their PC was not working so they gave me settings and prl file but still not working. Can you help pls? The problem is it doesn't accept my username and pass it reverts back to the default US user username. And the screen is somewhat different from your screen too.

    Hi Anurag I have got one 598u I configured it but at the final step whenever I open ESN flasher it says sierraCDMA.exe has stopped working. I have also tried in compatibility mode but no success. Plz help.

    There is no error in application.May be there is a problem in your windows.Try flashing with other pc it will work.Make sure that you run application in administrator mode.

    Im having tata photon plus. I have successfully unlocked it. I am able to use BSNL EVDO with sim & able to use tata photon without sim. But whenever I connect Bsnl evdo with sim, it connects 1xCDMA network. I came to know from your post, I need to update BSNL PRL file. My question is once I update BSNL PRL file, my existing TATA photon PRL file will be replaced or updated with new one. Will I get same speed in tata photon after bsnl prl file update?

    Please help me.

      No I am saying that in the photon devices that I have used the settings are reverted back.That is it will not work with bsnl evdo mode.It will give you photon plus speeds normally

      Run SierraCdma.exe using administrative prompt in your pc then flash it. If you are still unable to flash it then try it with other pc(your freind) running on Windows 7...

      Yes this support both, You can buy it from ebay and also look at site techenclave.com, here also you will get unlocked modem.

    Hi Anurag,
    Its a long time I m using sprint sierra 598u modem for bsnl evdo and getting whopping 250-300+ kbps download speed compared to crappy zte ac 8700 which gave 80-100kbps max. your blog was great help. I want one more help that if you can tell me any wifi router I can use with my 598u.

      I don't know any other router. You can check other router's too, but before buying that check the compatibility list....otherwise go for Iball router, it is very good...and yes you need to do minor configuration like username, password and network type only..its very easy
